creative sessions.
Rose will be leading nurturing and transformational creative sessions during the retreat to connect you with your inner Wild Artist. These will be guided exploratory group and individual practices to enhance your intuition and aid you to listen to your creative voice.
Rose creates her sessions using modalities and practices including the non-linear movement method, elemental practice, energy work, shamanic journeying, nature merging, presence, self-intimacy and meditation. An embodied and holistic approach to the life of the creative. A self-care toolkit. Communing with the elements of nature around us and within.
Inviting gentle curiosity. These sessions are about an un-doing and re-wilding. A deep listening in the quiet forest of your inner most world. A time out of time.
There may be drumming, laughing, bare feet on grass, dreaming in the sand, silence and seagulls, words on a page, a memory from another life, remembering the beat of your heart.
breathwork.
Shelley will be leading the breathwork session. This particular breathwork technique is a 2-part Healing Pranayama practice, designed to support deep releases and breakthroughs. Through this practice, we can rewire neural pathways and release stored stress from the depths of our nervous system. By circulating fresh Qi (energy) throughout the body, we shift stagnant and blocked energy, promoting healing and renewal.
The breath opens pathways that invite deeper connection and self-reflection. It teaches us how to hold ourselves with compassion and grace, even through challenging moments. This process builds resilience and flexibility within the nervous system, gradually expanding our capacity to stay present. As we continue to release and unwind the stored stress within, we gain greater clarity and a stronger connection to our authentic selves. With time, the grip of past experiences begins to loosen, allowing us to live in greater alignment with our core values.
"I am honored to hold space for this heart-opening, expansive, and healing practice. This breathwork has been one of the most profound experiences of my life, and I am deeply committed to sharing it with others."
cacao.
Rose will be sharing ceremonial cacao before the breathwork session. She has been working and co-creating with ceremonial cacao for six years.
Pure ceremonial Cacao is a very nurturing heart opener which can help you to connect deeper to the body and to life. To support during challenging times and also as an aid to help with stress. It is a gentle plant medicine and Rose has found it enhances creativity and access to this portal.
Rose offers cacao in many ways: in individual ceremony and in groups, sometimes with drumming, sound bowls, breathwork or movement.
sound bath.
Sound Healing works at many levels: physical, mental, spiritual and energetic, to heal us holistically. It induces a very deep state of calm and relaxation, allowing the natural healing powers within ourselves to activate.
Everything in the Universe vibrates at its own individual frequency, including the human body. If part of our body is unwell or we have a ‘dis-ease’, then the whole body feels unbalanced. We can bring ourselves into alignment by using sympathetic vibrations and resonance. Every cell in our body, not just our hearing, enjoys and responds well to sound. Sound travels at great speed in water and we are made up of about seventy per cent water, so the sounds reach and re-align our internal organs.
Teresa will be holding the sound bath during the retreat. She will be playing specialist healing instruments, including Himalayan Bowls, Sounding Bowls, Koshi Chimes and Shamanic Drum and Rattle. These are all vehicles that transmit strong intention via sound.
our location.
Cornwall has long been an inspiration and destination for artists and creatives. Called by the wild landscape and serving as an escape from the cities, this most far west region of the UK, almost an island surrounded by water, has provided a home and refuge for many who seek to re-connect within their Artist within.
"I walked this land with a dreamer's freedom" ~ Daphne du Maurier
Our home for the retreat is the historical hideaway Polhawn Fort which is situated within 5 acres of private land with panoramic sea views of Whitsand Bay in Cornwall, UK, next to a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Surrounded by nature and the sea, it's the perfect environment in which to switch off and nurture.
accommodation.
Polhawn Fort is nestled on cliffs in a hidden corner on a beautiful wide bay in Cornwall, UK. It has been in the Wicksteed family for 36 years since it was bought semi-derelict and underwent an extensive renovation to transform it into its current grandeur.
The property is located in 5 acres of natural landscape with sweeping gardens wrapped by the sea, access to a private beach, roof-top all-weather terrace and large communal areas.
The bedrooms all have unique decor, comfy beds and local Cornish amenities.

food.
As the fuel for our bodies and a primary source of well-being during the retreat, the food is one of the most important elements. So we are delighted to have Charlotte Roy cooking us up the most delicious and inventive plant-based meals to support us during this weekend.
Charlotte’s approach to cooking is to think differently about plant-based options: food without animal products can be just as indulgent, unctuous, rich and inspiring as any other kind, and she’s on a mission to show that.

Rose Wicksteed ~ Retreat Host & Guide
Rose has worked in the film and television industry for the past 20 years, primarily as a Casting Director. Collaborating with directors, writers, producers and actors on international productions. Alongside this creative work, she spent 14 years participating and later studying various holistic modalities including Non-Linear Movement Method; Ceremonial Cacao facilitation; Womb Ceremony facilitation; Shamanic Breathwork; Evolutionary Astrology and Somatic Trauma Therapy.
Spurred on by the transformational year of 2020, she left the city and immersed herself in a deep dive exploring the relationships between creativity, spirituality, the natural world and the artist: the dance between the different worlds she is a part of. Rose has studied many spiritual teachings from buddhism to esoteric but she does not attach or follow any one spiritual dogma rather she prefers to draw on many teachings and share from a place of humility in how to listen to life, surrender to the flow, move into more authenticity and truth and create from the heart.
Her retreats offer nurturing and exploration for creative beings. A re-wilding of the self, to inspire and ignite the creative fire. Weaving expression through the body, mind, soul and spirit through elemental teachings. Drawing heavily on lessons from the natural world and our relationship to it. Rose loves inspiring creative souls to remember their truth and the original spring of their art, through listening deeply to life.
Charlotte Roy ~ Chef
Charlotte Roy was the first vegan to reach the quarter finals of MasterChef UK, in 2024, impressing the judges with both flavour/texture combinations and her creativity. On leaving the competition, she spent three months interrailing around Europe, seeking out new and innovative ways to prepare and present food, culminating in a stage as a chef in one of Copenhagen’s top restaurants (and holder of a Green Michelin Star). Since then she has spent time working on plant-based menu development at a high-profile London caterer, and thrown herself into running supper clubs, retreats and pop ups, both as collaborations or solo.
Charlotte is also a qualified psychotherapist with a deep interest, and passion for, the relationship between what we eat and how we feel. Food has the power to bring out the child in us, stir up memories or immerse us in nostalgic feelings. When it comes to retreats, the food and how it’s presented can make a real difference to the flow and sense of togetherness we can create and that’s exactly what Charlotte works to build – a nourishing, sometimes playful and always delicious experience for all.
Shelley Blaze ~ Breathwork & Support
Shelley is a qualified Breathwork facilitator. Her offerings are designed to help you release anything that holds you back from living the life your heart truly desires. They serve as a pathway back to your authentic self.
Weaving these practices together, Shelley's intention is to help you reconnect with your body’s innate intelligence and its natural ability to heal. By tapping into the wisdom of your body, profound healing can unfold. Her breathwork is deeply integrated into her everyday life, and she finds it both humbling and an honour to hold space in this way.
Coming from a background as a make-up artist in the fashion industry, Shelley is deeply connected and understanding of the creative world of the artist.
Shelley will be offering a group Breathwork session as well as supporting throughout the entire retreat weekend.
Teresa Wicksteed ~ Sound Healer
Teresa is a fully qualified Sound Healing Practitioner and a Reiki Level 2 Practitioner. She qualified with the College of Sound Healing UK in 2016, and has successfully helped many individual clients with physical, emotional and energetic issues.
She is a Member of the College of Sound Healing, and of the Complementary Medical Association.
Teresa practises Sound Healing in South-East Cornwall, in a Mongolian Yurt above the sea, where the calming and energising sound of trees and waves is a background to her vocal sounds.
She also holds Sound Baths for groups including neuro-divergent groups on a regular basis both at the Fort and around Cornwall.

Testimonials
"Rose is a weaver of soft, shamanic and tender places. She transmits the deeply wild feminine current with full force but in the container of her enourmous heart it all becomes safe, exquisite and transformatively healing medicine. I know few people who are bold enough, raw enough, honest enough to visit the most challenging corners of humanness and bring back such nourishing medicine of empathy and holding for the benefit of others. You can trust her to be gentle with your heart. Always."
Tiina ~ Solstice Samothrace 2024
"I was fortunate enough to spend time on the untouched Greek island of Samothraki in 2023 on Roses’ summer solstice retreat.
I was in awe of how in tune Rose was with her intuitive nature and her trust to be in the art of flow. This was demonstrated in the retreat schedule whereby there was time and space for the mysteries of the island to unfold naturally. This left me feeling unbelievably excited to see what magic would be revealed as we went from one day to the next.
Her grounded yet loving presence weaved its way throughout the tapestry of the retreat resulting in a container that felt not only held but incredibly nurturing.
The sense of joy and ease I felt whilst being on retreat with Rose is a testament to the spaces that she holds.
It was nothing short of magic and Samothraki will forever be a place that stole my heart."
Frances ~ The Wild Island Retreat 2023
"What I remember most clearly from the womb journey, was the overwhelming sensation of softness and safety i felt afterwards, like i had found a lush garden inside of myself that had been long forgotten.
To realise i was capable of feeling this sense of safety so deeply in my body was such a joy and a relief because it taught me i carry this safe place inside of me and can reconnect with it regularly no matter what is happening around me.
The journey allowed my body to start gently moving out of stress and survival mode and into my own centered, grounded self.
Thanks rose."
Saleen ~ Womb Journey 2023
"Rose organised an amazing mini-festival for all kinds of healing practices - relaxed, professional and totally committed, it really was very impressive - such a lovely person!"
